Amid growing public concern, Assam’s renowned singer Zubeen Garg is set to undergo a fresh post-mortem. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed that the step is being taken to ensure transparency and maintain public trust in the ongoing investigation.
The examination is scheduled for Tuesday morning at Guwahati Medical College, under the supervision of a specialist team from AIIMS Guwahati. The singer’s body will arrive at GMCH at 7:30 AM, and the procedure is expected to take approximately one to two hours. The family has given full consent for this process.
Additionally, the Assam government has approved the allocation of 10 bighas of land in Kamarkuchi, Guwahati, where Zubeen Garg will be laid to rest on September 23. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju will attend the cremation as the representative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Schools, colleges, and government offices across the state will remain closed as a mark of respect.
