Delhi Kalkaji Harassment Case: Women Demand Safety After Night Assault Horror
A shocking harassment incident in Delhi’s Kalkaji area has once again raised serious concerns about women’s safety in the national capital. Two young women alleged that they were physically harassed, stalked and threatened by a group of men late at night while several bystanders allegedly stood watching without helping.
According to the victims, the terrifying incident left them mentally and physically traumatised. One of the women told PTI that the aggression and stress during the assault caused her blood pressure to drop. She also revealed that both women were already uncomfortable as they were on their periods at the time of the attack.
Victims Claim Public Ignored Calls For Help
The women alleged that many people witnessed the incident, with some even laughing and watching silently instead of helping them. Despite repeated cries for help, nobody reportedly stepped forward to protect them from the attackers.
One of the victims said the harassment had been continuing for a long time. She claimed the accused had tried to trouble her on multiple occasions earlier, but she had ignored them. According to her, the accused targeted them that night because her friends were not present.
She also criticised the lack of police patrolling in the area during nighttime, saying the locality often feels unsafe for women after dark.
Trauma Continues Even After Incident
Even after police intervention, the women claimed they continued to feel unsafe and feared being followed by the accused. One victim said she has been unable to sleep or eat properly since the incident and continues to suffer body pain and emotional trauma.
“I want to remain bold, but I also want to feel safe,” one of the women reportedly said, adding that many girls are unable to speak up about harassment because of fear.
The victim from Assam stressed that stronger safety measures are urgently needed so women can move freely without fear.
Police Register Case, Four Arrested
Delhi Police said both women were immediately taken to AIIMS for medical examination after officers reached the spot. A case was registered at Kalkaji Police Station under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including assault, stalking, criminal intimidation, wrongful restraint and voluntarily causing hurt.
Police officials stated that videos recorded by the victims helped investigators quickly identify the accused. CCTV footage from the area was also examined, after which eight individuals were questioned.
Later, four accused were arrested and identified as:
- Md Fahad – computer operator at a private institute
- Md Savej – contract worker and former club bouncer
- Md Arif (33) – employee at a mobile store in Noida
- Aman alias Mohd Faheem alias Kala (21) – resident of Jamia Nagar
The investigation into the Kalkaji harassment case is currently ongoing.
Rising Questions Over Women’s Safety In Delhi
The incident has sparked fresh debate on public safety, police patrolling and the role of bystanders during crimes against women. Social media users have expressed anger over the alleged inaction of people present during the attack.
Women’s rights activists say such incidents highlight the urgent need for stricter law enforcement, faster police response and greater public responsibility when someone is in danger.
As the victims continue to recover from the trauma, the case serves as another painful reminder of the safety challenges many women still face in urban India.
